Our customer urgently required a heavy-duty temporary roadway to support refurbishment and renewal works on overhead power lines. The challenge involved enabling fast and reliable access for plant and machinery exceeding 60 tonnes across soft agricultural land, where ground conditions could easily deteriorate.
We supplied and constructed the K-Mat Heavy Duty Roadway Panels a 4,200 metres access route. These were installed over a geotextile membrane, which helped prevent mud and debris from surfacing through the panels and reduced the risk of lateral slippage on the soft ground.
Over a 10-week period, the solution provided exceptional ground protection and stability, allowing the project to proceed efficiently. The customer commented on the outcome, particularly the prevention of land damage and the ease of access throughout the works.

Installation
The K-Mats were installed in a straight roadway formation to support plant and machinery access, with a membrane laid underneath to prevent mud from surfacing. The mats were securely connected using Metal Straps for K-Mats to ensure stability throughout the project.
